Saudi Arabia is projected to face a hotter-than-usual summer in 2026, according to forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology. The report anticipates that temperatures across all regions of the Kingdom will surpass average levels, while rainfall is likely to be either normal or below normal in several areas.
In June, the forecast indicates that rainfall levels will remain close to the seasonal averages throughout the nation. However, the scenario is expected to change in July, with below-average precipitation anticipated for regions such as Jazan, Baha, Asir, Makkah, Najran, and the Eastern Province. Other areas are likely to experience normal levels of rainfall.
June’s temperatures could rise by up to 1.5 degrees Celsius above the norm in multiple areas, including Jazan, Baha, parts of Makkah and Asir, and also in Madinah, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and Tabuk. The heat is expected to intensify during July and August, with temperatures potentially soaring by as much as 1.6 degrees Celsius above average, particularly affecting Jazan, Baha, and sections of Asir and Makkah, marking them as some of the hottest regions in the country for the summer.
Meteorological officials are advising the public and relevant sectors to stay updated with official weather forecasts and advisories. This guidance aims to support preparedness and strategic planning, ensuring better management of resources and safety during the anticipated extreme heat conditions.
