Saudi Foreign Minister Commends Trump for Pursuing Diplomatic Resolution in Iran Conflict

In a significant diplomatic development, Saudi Arabia has expressed its strong approval of U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to prioritize diplomacy over military action concerning Iran. This comes as efforts intensify to reach a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict, according to Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

In a statement shared on X, Prince Faisal conveyed Saudi Arabia’s gratitude for Trump’s choice to seek a diplomatic solution aimed at concluding the hostilities with Iran. He emphasized the importance of restoring security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its condition prior to February 28, 2026. The minister highlighted the need to address all contentious issues to bolster the region’s security and stability.

The foreign minister’s remarks followed President Trump’s announcement on Monday, revealing that he had postponed a planned military strike on Iran, initially set for Tuesday. This decision came at the behest of Gulf states, as Trump noted that “serious negotiations are now taking place.” The request to delay military action reportedly came from the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, as shared in a post on Truth Social.

Prince Faisal urged Iran to take advantage of this diplomatic opportunity to avoid the potential for further escalation. He called on Iran to engage constructively in negotiations that could lead to a comprehensive agreement, thereby securing lasting peace in the region and beyond.

The foreign minister also acknowledged the efforts of Pakistan in mediating the conflict, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s appreciation for their role in facilitating dialogue and promoting peace. The Kingdom remains hopeful that these diplomatic efforts will yield a successful resolution to the tensions in the Middle East.
