Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan Advocate Two-State Solution, Regional Stability

Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan have collectively urged for immediate diplomatic efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state amid rising tensions in the Middle East. During a meeting in Istanbul, the foreign ministers of these countries emphasized their commitment to a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, designating East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

The ministers called for an end to the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, a cessation of settler violence, and the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Stressing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy, they encouraged the involved parties, including the United States, Israel, and Iran, to seek a lasting negotiated settlement to prevent further military escalation in the region.

In addition to the Palestinian issue, the ministers condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemen, particularly those affecting civilians and critical infrastructure. They expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, urging the Houthis to halt military operations and return to the negotiation table.

Maritime security was also a significant concern during the talks. The ministers denounced attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, highlighting the potential threat to global supply chains and the movement of essential commodities such as oil, food, and fertilizers. They advocated for the restoration of safe and unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, underscoring the need to protect international maritime trade.

Separately, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held discussions with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, focusing on bilateral relations, the situation in Yemen, and regional security. Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation and supporting peace, stability, and freedom of navigation in the region.
